The NBC sitcom Whoopi, starring Whoopi Goldberg, will take on the timely issue of gay marriage in an episode scheduled to air March 23. Goldberg's character, Mavis Rae, a New York hotelier and onetime pop vocalist, plans to host her gay cousin's wedding at the hotel, particularly after finding out that her one hit, "Don't Hide Love," has become a gay anthem in the years since she recorded it. Complications arise when Mavis's right-wing brother, Courtney (Wren T. Brown), plans to host a meeting of the Republican Inclusion Coalition at the hotel on the same weekend. Also appearing on the episode will be members of the New York City Gay Men's Chorus.
