Two films from out directors slated for Sundance competition
Lineups for four categories of the 2005 Sundance Film Festival were announced on Monday, and two of the films slated for the Dramatic Competition are from out directors. Craig Lucas (Longtime Companion, The Secret Lives of Dentists) makes his directorial debut with The Dying Gaul, starring Peter Sarsgaard, Patricia Clarkson, and Campbell Scott as the three sides of a love triangle. Also in the Dramatic Competition schedule is Loggerheads, the new film from Tim Kirkman (Dear Jesse, The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me), which tells three overlapping stories of estranged families in North Carolina. The film stars Bonnie Hunt, Kip Pardue, Tess Harper, Chris Sarandon, and Michael Learned. Additional categories, including Premieres, American Spectrum, and Park City at Midnight, will be announced shortly.
