Variety reports that novelist and L Word producer A.M. Homes has sold the film rights to her novel This Book Will Save Your Life, which Viking will publish in April. Producer Scott Steindorff's Stone Village Pictures has optioned the rights to the book, about an L.A. day-trader whose life is so insular that he has no loved ones to call when he suffers a heart attack. The sale marks Homes's fourth film sale: Previously The Safety of Objects was made into a movie by lesbian filmmaker Rose Troche, and Buck Henry is currently adapting Music for Torching for director-producer Steven Shainberg (Secretary).
