Oscar-winning gay documentarians Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman--whose feature films include The Mayor of Castro Street, Common Threads: Stories From the Quilt, The Celluloid Closet, and Paragraph 175--will premiere their new documentary on the History Channel on Tuesday, April 11, at 10 p.m. Eastern as part of the series 10 Days That Unexpectedly Changed America. Epstein and Friedman's Gold Rush examines the vast 1848 influx of wealth chasers who helped propel the creation of the state of California two years later as well as the slaughter of Native Americans and environmental devastation that occurred in the gold rush's wake.
