Following performances in France and Germany, a new opera based on Tony Kushner's Angels in America will finally have its U.S. debut in Boston this June. Playbill.com reports that the 2 1/2-hour English-language opera will be presented June 16, 17, 20, and 24 by Opera Unlimited at the Stanford Calderwood Pavilion in the Boston Center for the Arts. Boston Modern Orchestra Project and Opera Boston will collaborate in the production. Steven Maler will direct the opera by Peter Etvs, featuring a libretto by Mari Mezei. Etvs's previous operas include adaptations of Three Sisters and Genet's The Balcony. (The Advocate)
