A spokesperson
for actor Jared Leto says the performer was "kidding"
last week when he told AOL Music that he was gay. Leto
was promoting the new album from his critically drubbed band
30 Seconds to Mars when he told an interviewer, via
instant message, "I'm gay...as a goose." Late Friday,
AOL posted the message, "After this interview was
published, Jared Leto contacted us to say that he was,
in fact, not gay and that his 'coming out' should not be
taken seriously. What a tease." His spokesperson,
Robin Baum, issued a statement saying, "Jared was
kidding." Leto, who played the lover of Alexander the
Great in Oliver Stone's Alexander, is best known for
his role as brooding Jordan Catalano on the classic
teen series My So-called Life. (The
