Hit film and book The Devil Wears Prada is being turned into a half-hour sitcom for Fox, reports Variety.

The movie version of Prada, which starred Meryl Streep as a cruel fashion-magazine editor and Anne Hathaway as her eager assistant, was based on Lauren Weisberger's novel. Now Robin Schiff, known for her work on the film comedy Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion, will write and executive-produce a television version, produced by Fox TV Studios for its eponymous network.

With the current crop of TV hits involving the fashion world--including Ugly Betty, Project Runway, and America's Next Top Model--the show seemed like a no-brainer, Fox TV Studios president Angela Shapiro-Mathes told Variety. "It's a little bit about the zeitgeist, but when is fashion not in the zeitgeist," she said. "Fashion is an aspirational, glamorous world that's always fun to look in on." (The Advocate)
