Rufus Wainwright's new album, Release the Stars, was executive-produced by Pet Shop Boys singer Neil Tennant and mixed by producer Marius DeVries (David Bowie, Madonna, Bjork), reports Pitchforkmedia.com.

The follow-up to Want Two will be released in May by Geffen and features contributions from musicians Richard Thompson and Joan Wasser and actress Sian Phillips.

Wainwright will continue his Judy Garland tribute by re-creating Garland's 1961 Carnegie Hall performance in London and Paris this month. In September he will pay tribute to Garland's subsequent 1961 performance at the Hollywood Bowl by putting on his own show at that venue. In April Wainwright is slated to perform (headlined by Bjork) at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, Calif. (The Advocate)
