Ryan Murphy, the
Golden Globe-winning creator and producer of the hit
series Nip/Tuck, has signed a multiyear deal to
develop new projects exclusively with Twentieth Century Fox
Television and a first-look deal with the Fox
Broadcasting Co. Murphy will also stay with
Nip/Tuck for its expanded 22-episode fifth
season. The deal was announced Friday by executives from FX,
TCFTV, and Fox.
Murphy will stay
on as director-executive producer-writer of
Nip/Tuck, the number 1 scripted series in basic
cable history for viewers ages 18-49. He will also
develop new comedy and drama series for 20th Century
Fox, and the Fox network will have the "first look" at
all of his projects.
Murphy's first
feature film Running With Scissors, adapted
from Augusten Burroughs's novel, was released last
fall, starring Annette Bening, Brian Cox, and Gwyneth
Paltrow. He also directed the forthcoming Dirty
Tricks, starring Meryl Streep and Annette Bening.
Nip/Tuck debuted in July 2003 on FX. It has won
both Emmy and Golden Globe awards and has been named to the
American Film Institute's list of the 10 Best
Television Shows of 2003 and 2004. (The
