The 10th Annual Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival announced a partial screening schedule for the 10-day event, which begins April 25.

Screenings will take place in several venues including the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts and the Colony Theatre. The opening-night gala will start with the comedy Breakfast With Scot, about an ex-NHL hockey player who ends up with temporary custody of recently orphaned Scot, an 11-year-old boy who loves glitter, tinsel, and sparkle.

The festival will also pay tribute to prolific filmmaker Christine Vachon, who produced I'm Not There, The Notorious Bettie Page, and Savage Grace, which will be screened during the event.

The Fort Lauderdale Film Festival will coincide with the Miami festival this year, running May 1-4. The event is scheduled to open with the documentary Ask Not, a follow-up to Daddy and Papa, about the military's ban on openly gay service members. Call Me Troy, which chronicles the life of the Reverend Troy Perry, will close the Fort Lauderdale festival.

The complete festival schedule will be announced March 24. (The Advocate)
