The mother of
Academy Award-winner Jennifer Hudson was found dead
in her home in Chicago on Friday, the Chicago Tribune reports. Another victim, an
unidentified 29-year-old man, was found shot in the chest in
the house on Chicago's South Side.
Hudson's mother,
Darnell Hudson, 57, co-owned the home with her daughter,
according to reports. Additionally, an Amber alert was
issued for 7-year-old Julian King, who is believed to
have been taken from the home. Police have not
verified whether he is related to Hudson.
The shooting
seems to be a result of a domestic incident, says Chicago
police spokesperson Monique Bond.
Hudson was an
American Idol contestant in 2004. She won
the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in
Dreamgirls in 2007 and recently released her
debut album. (Michelle Garcia, The Advocate)
