One of the hottest faces in Hollywood is pairing up with one of the hottest gay writers to develop a series of projects for television.
Augusten Burroughs has partnered with Ashton Kutcher's Katalyst Films to develop a drama for CBS and a Showtime comedy based on his memoir Dry. Dry was previously being developed as a feature film, but Katalyst snapped up the TV rights when they became available, according to Variety.
For CBS, Katalyst is developing The Nature of Fire, the story of a group of male firefighters whose world is turned upside down when they're joined by a female arson investigator.
"I'm a chimpanzee stepping behind the wheel of a Ferrari," Burroughs said of his move into the small-screen world. "As long as somebody from Katalyst, CBS, or Showtime is there to shout, 'Red means stop,' we should all be fine and come out of this with some very nice television."
Katalyst's Karey Burke, Jason Goldberg, and Kutcher will executive-produce both projects. No word yet on whether Kutcher will appear on-screen.
