Feast your eyes on the the hedonistic 20th-century adventures of the Beats with the new trailer for On the Road, the film version of Jack Kerouak's novel.

Opening December 21 in New York and Los Angeles before expanding nationally, the film is directed by Walter Salles and stars Sam Riley as protagonist Sal Paradise and Garrett Hedlund as his sexually adventuresome friend Dean Moriarty. Paradise is a thinly-veiled version of Kerouak, while Moriarty is a take on legendary beat Neal Cassady.

The book and film explore gay themes, though neither are considered queer works. Read more about that here.
