The rise, fall, and recovery of once-ubiquitous singer-songwriter Paul Williams is chronicled in director Steven Kessler's wistful documentary. Williams, who, while not gay, has serious LGBT-friendly cred, having cowritten "Evergreen" (with Barbra Streisand -- they both won Oscars), hits for the Carpenters, and the anthemic "The Rainbow Connection." Now playing in selected theaters.

The famed play by existentialism proponent Albert Camus about the depraved Roman emperor notorious for sexual misconduct will be staged by Havana's Teatro El Publico June 14-16 at Miami's Colony Theatre as part of Out in the Tropics, one of the country's premier LGBT performance festivals. Iambic pentameter never sounded so sexy as when delivered by Matt Doyle and Seth Numrich (both accomplished Broadway actors) while shaving in a locker room in this modern-day military high school-set gay reboot of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Director-writer Alan Brown mixes contemporary asides with the revered text, tosses in YouTube videos, social networking, and lip synching, and gets committed performances from his charismatic leads as star-crossed young lovers who are also soldiers in training.

7. THEATER: The Normal Heart

Larry Kramer's scorching, Tony Award-winning play about the early years of the AIDS epidemic in New York begins a U.S. tour with actors Patrick Breen, Luke Macfarlane (pictured), and Patricia Wettig. First stop is D.C.'s Keeger Theatre through July 19. For more information go here.

Michael Kearns has made history twice: In the 1970s he was the first actor on record to come out as gay and in 1992 was the first to reveal on TV that he had HIV. Also a gifted writer, Kearns has penned a sensational memoir (Create Space, $15.95) that looks back at more than a half century as he evolved from ribald party boy to impassioned artist-activist to doting father.

4. DVD: Pretty Little Liars: The Complete Second Season/GCB: The Complete First Season

"Who is A?" was the question on the minds of fans of ABC Family's hit LGBT-inclusive mystery Pretty Little Liars. All 25 episodes of season 2 are now available on DVD. Kristin Chenoweth and Annie Potts star in the beloved but canceled Southern-baked comedy-drama GCB, about a former mean girl who finds she can go home again -- if she's ready to face the sins of her past. The entire first season will be available on DVD Tuesday.
