Phenomenon Sam Smith continues his great year, taking home four of the Grammys' biggest honors -- best new artist, best pop vocal album for In the Lonely Hour, plus song of the year and record of the year for Stay with Me.
Smith bested Haim, Bastille, Brandy Clark, and Iggy Azalea to win Best New Artist. Taylor Swift, a friend of Smith's, presented him with the award, joking that she had lost the category a few years ago.
The U.K.-born Smith bested Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Miley Cyrus, Coldplay, and Ariana Grande when he won Best Pop Vocal Album for the soulful In the Lonely Hour. "Before I made this record I was doing everything to try to get my music to the world," Smith said at the ceremony, according to the Los Angeles Times. "I tried to lose weight and was making awful music. It was only until I started to be myself that the music flowed."
Afterward while taking questions from reporters, Smith was asked what's the one thing that could be better than winning a Grammy? His answer: "A boyfriend."
