Will NPH Be People Magazine's First Out Sexiest Man Alive?

Neil Patrick Harris could be People magazine's first out gay Sexiest Man Alive, reports the New York Daily News.

Harris is currently in a tight race with Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy). The two are rumored to be the final front-runners in the race for the prestigious top spot, with the winner gracing the issue's cover.

"People has never had an openly gay 'Sexiest Man' before. It would certainly make news and generate buzz for the magazine," an insider told the Daily News. "Plus, Neil is going to be hosting the Oscars. He's in Gone Girl, he was just on Broadway. He's also happily married with kids. He is having an amazing year."

As an out gay actor, Harris as a history of breaking down barriers separating LGBT people from the mainstream. That history is one of the many reasons The Advocate named Harris one of our finalists for Person of the Year.

"Two of the things I hold dear, as tenets, are creativity and authenticity," he told Out magazine in a recent interview, and those principles continue to serve the 41-year-old actor well.

People magazine will announce the winner next week.
