Step aside, Dani Campbell, the "futch" firefighter who nearly won Tila Tequila's heart on last fall's reality contrivance, A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila: You now have competition for Cutest Reality-Show Lesbian from Kat Feller, one of about a dozen cast members of TV Land's new miniseries High School Reunion.

Kat joins her fellow classmates from the 1987 graduating class of J.J. Pearce High School in Dallas for a two-week-long reunion drama-thon, not in Texas but in a typical reality-show mansion -- on Maui. Kat's story line: Let everybody know she's a lesbian and maybe explore some of her bi-curiosity. Will the sparkly-cute 38-year-old, tatted-and-pierced voice-over actor, who now lives in Santa Monica, Calif.,get anything going with a fellow alumna? The Advocate had to ask.

Any girl-on-girl action in High School Reunion?

The only thing I can really say to that is that there's a confession on my end. I can't say anything more. Doesn't that make you want to watch?

A confession... hmm. Well, are any of the other women on the show bi-curious?

No. Maybe in the closet.

Does anyone hook up during the reunion?

Yes. But I have to keep it under wraps.

I just got to watch the first three episodes of the series. And I must say, you've proved once again that gays are the most fun.

Oh, I'm a happy lesbian. And if we weren't on the phone, I could be more crass.

Darn! But aside from being a happy lesbo, you also seem to be questioning your sexuality in the early episodes. Was that trumped up for the show?

No, it was definitely for real. A lot of people have bisexual tendencies in their life. I did date men in high school, but it's been a long time. I've been a little bi-curious lately, but when I sit down and think about being with a guy long-term, it does nothing for me. Ultimately, I'm very, very drawn to women -- even in sixth grade, I remember being drawn to a girl. If I'm a little bi-curious from time to time, it's fun. Wow, you can be attracted to, and feel attraction from, both sexes! It opens up your options.

What's your current girlfriend status?

Brenda is my ex-girlfriend -- we've been separated for about a year -- and she's a big part of my life, my confidante. I love her dearly. But our career paths and lives are going in different directions. So right now, ladies, I'm single! I haven't gone on one single date. Please put that in big print: KAT WANTS TO GO OUT ON DATES.

What's your type?

I don't like the butchy, edgy girls; I like the cute, edgy girls -- a little bit more feminine. Sarah Shahi is the epitome of my type -- dark-haired, dark-eyed. But I like blondes too -- Laurel Holloman from The L Word... and Charlize Theron, please! I'm not so shallow, though -- I'm drawn to the person as well.

You were attracted to girls early on, but when did you actually come out?

I came out to myself when I was 20, and to my family a few years later. I was terrified my parents would freak out. My dad thought I was on drugs because I was so secretive about my life. But [when I told them], they accepted me, and ever since then I don't care who else knows.

But was it hard to tell your high school classmates at the reunion?

My heart just started going boom boom boom, really beating fast when I told the women. You just never know how they'll respond -- and if one didn't like it, I would have been stuck in the house with her for two weeks. But they were great to me.

And the guys?

Oh, the guys -- it's everyone's fantasy. It's like, Can I watch?

In the promos for the show, each person is given a character label based on their high-school personalities -- the Stud, the Drama Queen, the Pipsqueak, the Jock. But you're simply called the Lesbian -- did that make you feel weird?

I'm really OK with it. I had two reasons for being on the show -- the main reason was to come out as a lesbian [the other was to promote her voice-over career, which includes playing an animated ostrich giving birth in Madagascar 2]. This was my coming-out. As far as the lesbian title, hey, you know what? It's getting me exposure.

It sure got a lot of exposure for Dani Campbell--you could be the new favorite reality dyke.

Hey, they should make a reality show out of me and Dani! She's not exactly my type, but we can be friends. See who can get the hotter chicks, the Butch or the Femme!
