Dallas Roberts, who plays the gay brother of title character Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) on The Good Wife (and can be seen lately in AMC's The Walking Dead), will return at the end of this season, along with Florrick's mother, played by Stockard Channing. Florrick hasn't enjoyed the comfort of her family since her mother visited last season looking for legal representation. Throughout the show Alicia has always supported her brother, Owen Cavanaugh, and accepted his sexual orientation, often being the referee between him and her overbearing mother. While the reason for their return hasn't yet been revealed, it looks like a twist is upcoming for the family. As Roberts explained to Vulture, "Owen's back for the weirdest reason. He's got some different ideas, and I'm finding that challenging and interesting." His cryptic teasing continues: "I can't go too crazy about what it might be, but, uh, yeah, suffice it to say when Owen pops up you're going to be surprised."

After a season focused mostly on her law firm life or the political life of her estranged husband, played by Chris Noth, it will be refreshing to see the antics of Alicia's family once both her brother and mother roll into town. It's probably no coincidence that the guest appearances are planned for the penultimate episode of the season, which will most likely lead to a gripping season finale that the drama is known to deliver.
The Good Wife airs Sundays on CBS at 9 p.m.
