Grammy Award-winning pop icon Cyndi Lauper celebrated the world premiere of her exhilarating new musical Kinky Boots in Chicago this week (along with KINKY(r) Liqueur, the official drink of the Broadway-bound musical). Lauper wrote the lyrics and music to the show and gay playright slash actor (and four-time Tony Award-winner) Harvey Fierstein wrote the book.

Based on the 2005 film of the same name, Kinky Boots follows Charlie, a guy who suddenly inherits his father's failing shoe factory. As he tries to save the business from bankruptcy, Charlie meets a drag performer named Lola, who is just in need of some sturdy stilettos. Together the duo try to turn the factory around find a common bond along the way.

Kinky Boots is in its pre-Broadway engagement at Chicago's Bank of America Theatre through November 4. Previews begin on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York on March 5, 2013 and it officially opens April 4.

Oh and KINKY(r) Liqueur calls itself "a naughty fusion of super-premium vodka distilled five times with exotic fruit flavors sourced globally, including mango, blood orange and passion fruit." Bottoms up, Ms. Lauper.
