Anthony Rapp, who is currently starring on Broadway in If/Then, announced yesterday on Twitter that he will miss several weeks of performances as he recovers from knee surgery due to a torn ACL.

Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey's musical stars Idina Menzel as Elizabeth, a spirited divorcee starting over in Manhattan. Reuniting with his Rent costar, Rapp plays her friend Lucas, a bisexual community organizer.

If/Then ensemble member Curtis Holbrook, most recently seen on Broadway in West Side Story, will take over the role of Lucas during Rapp's absence. Holbrook's Broadway credits also include Xanadu, Taboo, and The Boy From Oz. It is unknown when Rapp will return to the production.

Directed by Michael Greif, If/Then began previews March 5 and officially opened March 30 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. The LGBT-inclusive musical, which The Advocate called "an earnest exploration of chance and choice," earned Tony nominations for Best Original Score and Best Actress for Menzel.

Rapp's other Broadway credits include You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown and Six Degrees of Separation. He also toured in Without You, a one-man show based on his best-selling 2006 memoir of the same name.
