Nordstrom has joined the bandwagon of retailers featuring same-sex couples in their advertisements this holiday season with the release of "The Homecoming." The actors in the commercial are an engaged couple in real life according to LGBTQNation.
The commercial shows one of the hunks returning home with a Nordstrom bag and a suitcase. He's met at the door by the family dog and his handsome partner as words like "home" and "heart" flash across the screen.
Nordstrom joins several other major retailers featuring same-sex couples in advertisements recently. Famous Footwear, Campbell's Soup, and Kohl's have recently highlighted same-sex couples in their marketing. Even Allstate has an online ad starring a real-life couple raising their daughter.
Nordstrom was criticized in 2013 for "a weak attempt at inclusion" when the inclusion of two same-sex couples in the ad "Nordstrom: The Ultimate Wedding Party" was "particularly subtle" about their inclusion.
