Hickory Tavern, a chain sports bar in North Carolina, fired one of their servers after he posted a receipt where a customer complained about him being gay on Facebook, reports The Charlotte Observer.

"Our gay waiter made me wanna throw up my food!" wrote the patron, adding "Ruined my experience tongt. Will not be back!"

Hickory Tavern has confirmed that the receipt is real and that the server has been fired for sharing it, which goes against its policy against posting credit card receipts online. "We strongly condemn the insults directed at one of our team members in remarks left by a patron on their credit card receipt," Hickory Tavern told The Charlotte Observer, "We value diversity and do not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation or for any other reason. We also value the privacy of our patrons, and posting of credit card receipts violates our confidentiality policy."

As of Wednesday night, the receipt has been shared over 2,000 times. It has since been deleted.

Many have expressed their outrage at the firing, some even calling to boycott the chain.

However, it seems the server may not be on the job search for long; the restaurant has offered him back his position.

"Although the team member was initially terminated for violating this policy, after further discussions with the team member, we made the decision to offer his job back. We strive to strike the right balance between supporting our team members and protecting the private information of our guests." they told The Charlotte Observer.

As the story has become viral, more homophobic comments are pouring in. One user, Delibtardifier, on the Fox News report, wrote in the comments, "He was fired because his breath smelled like his hole." another, SheathAddict249 wrote, "Good for the restaurant!"
