Imagine how difficult it must've been for gay people to find each other before social media existed. Thank goodness for David Eliot, the "not gay" inventor of Gaydar. In 1999, The Daily Show field correspondent, Stephen Colbert, interviewed Eliot (who is totes straight) about the vibrating device that dances in a gay person's pocket when another device is nearby. Despite his radical new invention, Eliot is very clearly uncomfortable talking about his own sexuality.
Colbert asked, "Other than inventing a discrete way for closeted gay men to meet each other, what are some of your other interests?" Other than banging his girlfriend, Eliot's other interests include dancing, singing, and photography.
