When a few of us got together Sunday night to watch the Miss Universe pageant, I knew we were in for a good time. For one of the boys hosting us that evening, Kyser, the pageant is bigger than the Super Bowl and his energy is always infectious. He encouraged us to "represent" that night by sporting fabulous wigs, plastic crowns, and homemade sashes.

We began watching the event a little later, giving the DVR time to record a fair amount of the pageant so we could skip commercials, and by the time the show commenced the sass and cocktails were flowing.

Knowing how funny some of my friends can be in times such as these, I began to record reactions all throughout the evening, planning to share something with friends who weren't able to celebrate with us. Then pageant host Steve Harvey incorrectly crowned the winner, and I knew I had to capture the moment.

True to form, they didn't disappoint, but what made the moment even better was when the recording cut out - because the show had gone slightly overtime - at the crucial moment before the actual winner was announced and the whole gang shrieked and scrambled for the remote to see if they could catch the final seconds of the live telecast.

I immediately uploaded the video to The Advocate's Facebook page (Have you liked us yet?), wanting to share such a fun moment between a group of gay friends with others and show that events like the Miss Universe pageant can be just as exciting as Super Bowl Sunday. Little did I guess it would be viewed by more than 1 million people in two days.

Enjoy the full video below and laugh along with us.
