A new hashtag is trending on Twitter after notable homophobe and vice president-elect Mike Pence went to Broadway Friday to see Hamilton: An American Musical, a play that celebrates diversity and immigration and has a cast made up almost entirely of ethnic minorities and gays. The politician's reception was less than warm, with audience members booing and heckling him as he took his seat.
Brandon Victor Dixon, the actor who portrays Aaron Burr, read a statement imploring Pence to "work on behalf of all of us," and encouraging audience members to pull out their phones and record the speech. In the aftermath of the ensuing social media frenzy, tweeters started using the hashtag #nameapencemusical to name plays that might be more Pence's style.
