Satirist Randy Rainbow is taking on Donald Trump’s classified documents scandal with a hilarious new parody, “Donald in the John With Boxes,” set to the tune of the Beatles’ “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.”
Trump has been indicted on 37 counts relating to his possession of classified documents from his presidency. The indictment alleges that some of the documents contained information relating to U.S. nuclear weapons programs and other government secrets. Photos that show boxes of documents stacked in a bathroom at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home have been shared widely on social media. Trump has pleaded not guilty and has said that he had every right to retain the documents.
This all figures in Rainbow’s new video. It opens with him “interviewing” Trump, with Rainbow’s questions edited into actual footage of the former president. “At one point you apparently held up a highly sensitive military plan of attack document in front of a room full of randos,” Rainbow says. Trump replies, “It may have been held up or not, but that was not a document. I didn’t have a document per se.” Rainbow then makes a reference to grabbing Trump by the “per se.”
Soon the video segues into the song. “Picture his ass in a bright orange jumpsuit / bangin’ on bars with a rusty tin cup,” Rainbow intones. “Thought he’d be cute and just take what he wanted / but looks like it’s time to pay up.”
“Donald’s in the john with boxes,” Rainbow sings in the chorus. He appears as the Beatles at various times in their career and shows, of course, the now-famous photo of the boxes in the bathroom. Watch below.
