New York City police are investigating an incident that led to a mother and daughter being physically assaulted at a restaurant after being insulted with antigay slurs early Saturday morning.

The two women were eating at the BarKogi restaurant on Manhattan's Upper East Side at 1:20 a.m. Saturday when a group of people -- two men and two other women -- started yelling homophobic taunts at them, reports the New York Daily News.

The daughter, 27, had to be taken to the hospital, the Daily News reports, after being thrown to the ground and suffering a cut knee, while the 46-year-old mother declined medical help. She had been held down by the attackers.

Police have yet to arrest any of the four suspects, who are wanted on misdemeanor assault charges, according to the paper.
