A gay man who was traveling with his boyfriend and sister was allegedly stabbed Saturday night while he was riding the subway in New York City.
Before stabbing him, the alleged attacker shouted homophobic slurs, police told The New York Post. The attacker was reportedly upset when he noticed the victim, 28, with his boyfriend, and the two exchanged words on the train around 7 p.m., police told the Post.
Shortly after, the assailant yelled "you faggot!" and stabbed the man in the left side of his chest and ran, said the Post. The victim was taken to the hospital and is in serious but stable condition, reports the paper.
The assailant has not been detained by police, but authorities are investigating the attack as a hate crime, reports the Post.
