The charge, according to reports, is obstruction of justice.Â
The FBI isn't saying today exactly why it arrested the wife of the Pulse nightclub shooter, reports the Washington Post.
Until now, Noor Salman had said publicly that she was unaware her husband, Omar Mateen, planned to go on a mass shooting spree at the Orlando LGBT nightclub in June. He killed 49 people, most of which were LGBT. Now The New York Timesreports she's been arrested in connection with the case and charged with obstruction.
It was the Times that first interviewed Salman last year. Among other things, Salman toldTimes reporter Adam Goldman that Mateen wasn't gay and had repeatedly raped her during their marriage.
A grand jury last year had reportedly been considering whether Salman knew about Mateen's plans for the murder spree.
"I was unaware of everything," she told the Times. "I don't condone what he has done. I am very sorry for what has happened. He has hurt a lot of people."
