Dangerous Hoax Sends SWAT Team to Home of David Hogg

The activist and survivor of gun violence was a victim of "swatting," a dangerous practice where hoax calls lead SWAT teams to people's homes.

David Hogg, activist against gun violence from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, was "swatted" on Tuesday. Swatting is the act of making a prank emergency call so that armed authorities respond to a hoax situation. A call came in to the Broward County Sheriff's Office claiming there was someone in Hogg's house with a weapon. The SWAT team cleared the home and determined the call was a hoax. David Hogg called the hoax a distraction. "The main thing I would say is they're trying to distract us from the March for Our Lives 'Road to Change,' which is the largest youth voter registration push in American history by other young kids going to over 75 congressional districts getting kids registered to vote." David Hogg told BuzzFeed News.
