A transgender woman has been murdered in Kansas City, Mo., in the 11th known homicide of a trans American this year.

Police discovered the woman's body on the porch of an abandoned house Tuesday morning, The Kansas City Star reports. They identified her Wednesday as Brooklyn Lindsey, 32. Like all trans murder victims identified so far this year, Lindsey was a woman of color.

Her face showed "obvious signs of trauma," the Star reports, but the authorities have not yet determined the cause of her death, although they are investigating it as a homicide. Neighbors said they heard people arguing at the house about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, then heard gunshots. Police found Lindsey's body at about 6:30 a.m.

Police ask that anyone with information call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS (8477).
