Clueless star Stacey Dash, who has a history of making anti-trans statements, was arrested on a domestic violence charge in Pasco County, Fla., over the weekend. But Dash was acting in self-defense when she allegedly slapped and pushed her husband Jeffrey Marty, who had scratches on his arms, according to her manager.
Dash, 52, made the 911 call, her manager told TMZ. She is currently being held on $500 bail.
The last time Dash made headlines, she was promoting her memoir in 2016. During her press tour, she made a series of anti-trans statements beginning with claiming that being trans is a lifestyle choice.
"It's tyranny by the minority. Why do I have to suffer because you can't decide what you wanna be that day?" Dash said, calling out the most well-known trans person at the time -- Caitlyn Jenner. "It's your body! So it's your decision, right? We all make choices."
Dash also said that rights for trans people were beginning to "infringe upon [her] rights too much."
"Go in the bushes. I don't know what to tell you, but I'm not going to put my child's life at risk because you want to change a law so that you can be comfortable with your beliefs -- which means I have to change my beliefs and my rights? No," she said.
Dash married Marty in 2018, 10 days after they met. Marty is known for creating a Twitter account for a made-up politician he called Rep. Steven Smith of Georgia, who was the first "congressman" to endorse Donald Trump.
