Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders today released a video touting his support for LGBT rights and a diverse group of people praising him for it.

"He voted against the Defense of Marriage Act," says one, while another says, "He's an original sponsor of the Equality Act."

Sanders is also shown challenging a man from the floor of Congress. "You said something about homos in the military," Sanders says. "Was the gentleman referring to the many thousands and thousands of gay people who have put their lives on the line in countless wars? You have insulted thousands."

The U.S. senator from Vermont is trailing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, also a former U.S. senator and a fellow LGBT rights supporter, in the delegate count, but he has said he will stay in the race for the Democratic nomination until the end.

The video, posted today to Sanders's Facebook page and YouTube, is titled "Be the Change You Want to See." That echoes a quote often attributed to Mahatma Gandhi, although he apparently never said or wrote those exact words. Watch it below.

She is a political junkie who thinks even the wonkiest details are fascinating, and she always loves to see political candidates who are groundbreaking in some way. She enjoys writing about other topics as well, including religion (she’s interested in what people believe and why), literature, theater, and film. Trudy is a proud “old movie weirdo” and loves the Hollywood films of the 1930s and ’40s above all others. Other interests include classic rock music (Bruce Springsteen rules!) and history. Oh, and she was a Jeopardy! contestant back in 1998 and won two games. Not up there with Amy Schneider, but Trudy still takes pride in this achievement.
