The gay presidential candidate's latest television ad emphasizes an end to division.
Now in third place in a poll of Iowa voters, Mayor Pete Buttigieg has released his latest political advertisment as he seeks the Democratic presidential nomination.
The ad highlights national unity, poking at President Trump's divisive leadership. Titled "Sun Comes Up," the spot pulls from a speech the South Bend, Ind., mayor gave earlier this month in Des Moines, where he asked voters to imagine the first day when Trump is no longer president.
"I am running to be the president to pick up the pieces of our divided nation and lead us to real action," the candidate says. "I am ready to gather up an American majority that is hungry for change and done with division."
This is Buttigieg's sixth advertisement to air in Iowa; the commercials appear to be having an effect, with a new poll placing him above Vice President Joe Biden and on the heels of Sen. Elizabeth Warren, in first position, and Sen. Bernie Sanders, in second.
