Cher to Joe Biden: You've Got Me, Babe

Cher, one of the most outspoken celebrity critics of Donald Trump, has announced who she'd like to replace him in the White House.

In two tweets Monday, the LGBTQ icon and mother of a transgender son, Chaz Bono, voiced her support for former Vice President Joe Biden, who once was expected to be the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination but didn't win the Iowa caucus or New Hampshire primary. Political prognosticators are saying he needs a strong performance in the Nevada caucus and South Carolina primary to stay in contention. In her tweets, Cher appeared to relate to Biden's situation, and she also seemed to get in a dig at more recent entrant to the race, former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg.

The legendary singer and Oscar-winning actress has long spoken out for causes and candidates she believes in. She enthusiastically supported Hillary Clinton for president in 2016. Last year, she joined Clinton in blasting Trump's ban on military service by transgender people. She addressed the Women's March in Las Vegas in 2018, saying, "This is one of the worst times in our history, and that's why I honestly believe that women are gonna be the ones that fix it." In 2013, she turned down a gig at the Olympics in Sochi, Russia, because of Russia's "gay hate."

Her support may or may not draw voters to Biden. But no matter what happens in the remainder of the primary season, it's clear that he's got her, babe.
