Sean Hayes only has one thing to say after learning the secrets of his Irish lineage: "This is one effed up family!"
On Sunday's episode of TLC's documentary series Who Do You Think You Are?, the former Will & Grace star (and recently married man) traveled to Dublin and Tarbert, Ireland to uncover the truth about his ancestry. Although he's estranged from his father, Hayes wanted to learn more about his Irish heritage -- but what he discovered about his progenitors was a lot of previously unknown drama.
According to the court records he and a specialist managed to dig up, Hayes' great-great-grandfather had a long track record of being caught up with the law. So much so, that the long-lost patriarch of the Hayes family was even known to take his own children to court.
Hayes, who got married to his longtime partner Scott Icenogle in November of 2014, is the most recent celebrity to appear on Who Do You Think You Are?, a program dedicated to helping A-Listers find out where they really came from. Past appearances on the TLC show include the likes of other high-profile LGBT stars like Jim Parsons and Rosie O'Donnell.
