The film shows how a World War II veteran became an artist that changed the queer world.
The full Tom of Finland trailer is finally here.
The film, directed by Dome Karukoski, tells the story of Touko Laaksonen, a World War II veteran whose erotic drawings would become synonymous with the sexual liberation of gay men.
Tom of Finland is known for his exaggerated depictions of masculinity, which show muscled bikers, uniformed members of the armed services, and working men engaged in sexual acts.
The film shows how the postwar oppression of queer people influenced, inspired, and drove Laaksonen's work in both his native Finland and abroad. It debuts in early 2017.
