Money talks, and for once, women have the upper hand in Hollywood. At least it's played out that way with the future of director Patty Jenkins's Wonder Woman, which earned over $821 million worldwide at the box office.

Last week it was rumored that the movie's star, Gal Gadot, would drop out of playing the Amazon princess in the juggernaut franchise if producer Brett Ratner (who's been accused of rape or sexual harassment by at least six women, and who callously outed a then 18-year-old Ellen Page) were not dropped from any further involvement with the films. As of Wednesday, Gadot confirmed on Today that Ratner, who was involved with Wonder Woman as part of his deal with Warner Bros., is out.

Addressing the rumor posted in Page Six that she would step down from portraying the iconic character in the box office smash hit of the past summer, Gadot said the decision that Ratner would no longer be involved with the franchise was made before that story broke.

"At the end of the day, a lot has been written about my views and the way that I feel, and everyone knows the way that I feel because I'm not hiding anything. But the truth is, there are so many people involved in making this movie, it's not just me, and they all echoed the same sentiments," Gadot told Savannah Guthrie about Ratner's removal from the franchise. "Everyone knew what was the right thing to do, but there was nothing for me to actually come and say, 'cause it was already done before this article came out, you know?"

As part of the ongoing fallout from the Harvey Weinstein sexual assault scandal, six women, including actresses Natasha Henstridge and Olivia Munn, came forward with their stories of the director of movies like X-Men: The Last Stand terrorizing them. He masturbated in front of Munn and forced Henstridge to perform oral sex on him, they alleged in a Los Angeles Times expose.

Last week, Ellen Page, who starred in X-Men: The Last Stand, wrote on Facebook that he outed her in a lewd, public way on that set.

"He looked at a woman standing next to me, ten years my senior, pointed to me and said: 'You should fuck her to make her realize she's gay,'" Page wrote of Ratner. "I was a young adult who had not yet come out to myself. I knew I was gay but did not know, so to speak. I felt violated when this happened."

Gadot declined to attend a dinner to honor Ratner in late October, according to Variety.

Wonder Woman 2 is slated for a fall of 2019 release.
