The trailer for Netflix's The King was released today, showing a very different side to Timothee Chalamet than the one he displayed in the queer classic Call Me by Your Name.
There are no languid Italian love affairs in The King, just brinkmanship, palace politics, and swordfighting, with Chalamet portraying a wayward prince and reluctant heir to the English throne. Chalamet will do battle with many in the film, including Robert Pattinson's Dauphin character.
The King is based on historical plays by Shakespeare, and was directed by David Michod. Michod and Joel Edgerton wrote the screenplay; Edgerton is known for writing, producing, and directing the conversion therapy-themed film Boy Erased. The King streams on Netflix November 1.
