Los Angeles's Outfest highlights female, POC, and trans voices at next month's event.
Are you ready for the nation's leading LGBTQ festival? The 2019 Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ Film Festival will be held July 18-28, showcasing 240 films over 11 days. The event continues to be a trailblazer for multicultural LGBTQ representation in the media as this year's program features films from 33 countries and in 26 languages, with more than two-thirds of this year's content directed by women, people of color, and trans filmmakers.
Outfest opens at the Orpheum Theatre on Thursday, July 18, with Circus of Books, Rachel Mason's vibrant documentary about West Hollywood's iconic brick-and-mortar gay erotica emporium and bookstore. Other prominent films being shown are To the Stars, Tu Me Manques, Sell By, Queer Japan, Trixie Mattel: Moving Parts, before closing on Sunday, July 28, with Sundance favorite Before You Know It, at The Theater at the Ace Hotel.
