A new short film explores the impact of dating and distance on gay love.

See You Soon, a new short film by Tyler Rabinowitz, stars James Cusati-Moyer (Slave Play) and Jonny Beauchamp (Kate Keene) as Vincent and Anthony, men on the opposite sides of the country who fall for one another after meeting on a dating app.

In the below trailer, shared exclusively with The Advocate, the pair converse through video on smartphones about their first digital encounter a few months prior as they prepare for their meeting in real life for one weekend.

"I remember thinking two months ago, how the hell can I get to him and how fast can I get there?" Vincent remarked.

The film was inspired by a "pivotal moment" in the life of Rabinowitz, who fell for a person on a dating app in his mid-20s and discovered "the palpable connection we formed despite the distance, time, and reality separating us."

"My hope is that audiences will come away from the film feeling like they've known Vincent and Anthony forever, the same way they felt when they first started talking online," he said in a statement.

The film, calling to mind the modern gay classic Weekend, also references the experiences of many LGBTQ people who find meaningful love, intimacy, and connections in digital spaces.

Watch the trailer below. And catch the premiere at the BFI Flare: London LGBT Film Festival in March.
