A festival favorite, director Mike Mosallam's romantic comedy Breaking Fastfollows the burgeoning love affair between a Muslim doctor and the man who begins sharing nightly meals with him during Ramadan.
"Set against the twinkling lights of West Hollywood, Breaking Fast is a romantic comedy that follows Mo, a practicing Muslim still reeling from heartbreak when an all-American guy, Kal, offers to join him in his nightly Iftars, the traditional meal eaten by Muslims during Ramadan," the film's synopsis reads. "Meal after meal, the two start to discover they have more in common than meets the eye."
The winner of the Best Narrative Feature prize at Los Angeles's LGBTQ+ film festival Outfest, Breaking Fast stars Haaz Sleiman as Mo and Michael Cassidy as Kal.

In an exclusive clip below, Mo's outgoing best friend, Sam (Amin El Gamal), introduces him to the handsome Kal at a birthday party in Los Angeles.
More than just a sweet romantic comedy, the film features three Muslim characters who come to terms with the intersections of their sexuality and faith in various ways. Mosallam directed a short version of Breaking Fast in 2015.
The film also stars Patrick Sabongui, Christopher J. Hanke, Rula Gardenier, Veronica Cartwright, and Aline Elasmar.
