The trailblazer faced many battles against stereotypes and sexism on her path to becoming an icon.
Rita Moreno is "just a girl who decided to go for it" in the trailer for her new documentary.
Directed by Mariem Perez Riera, Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go for It traces the trailblazer's over-70-year career in Hollywood.
Moreno is the role model for many, having gone from her impoverished upbringing in a Puerto Rico farm to winning an Oscar for West Side Story. But as the documentary shows, the actress also withstood discrimination, sexism, and her toxic relationship with Marlon Brando.
In addition to Moreno, the documentary also features George Chakiris, Hector Elizondo, Gloria Estefan, Tom Fontana, Morgan Freeman, Mitzi Gaynor, Whoopi Goldberg, Norman Lear, Eva Longoria, Justina Machado, Terrence McNally, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Karen Olivo, who attest to the actress's inspiring life.
Released by Roadside Attractions, Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go for It will be out in theaters June 18. Watch the trailer below.
