Mark your calendars: Everybody's Talking About Jamie has a release date.
The upcoming musical film follows Jamie New (Max Harwood), a 16-year-old who hopes to one day be a drag queen. As the gay teen sets out to pursue his dreams, which starts with wearing drag to prom, Jamie contends with high school bullies and an unaccepting dad. Along the way, he finds a mentor in a local drag legend, Miss Loco Chanelle (Richard E. Grant).
Originally set to premiere theatrically in February, the debut of the fabulous film was pushed due to the pandemic to September 17, 2021, when it will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories.
The teaser below shows dazzling clips from the New Regency and Film4 film, which is inspired by a true story and adapted from an English stage musical directed by Jonathan Butterell, who makes his feature-film directorial debut here.
Jamie also stars Sarah Lancashire, Lauren Patel, Shobna Gulati, Ralph Ineson, Adeel Akhtar, Samuel Bottomley, and Sharon Horgan. The film's screenplay and lyrics are by Tom MacRae, with songs by Dan Gillespie Sells and a score from Sells and Anne Dudley.
