Lukas Gage, Zachary Quinto, and Simon Rex in 'Down Low'
Sony Pictures Entertainment
Sony Pictures Entertainment's comedy Down Low is out today. Lukas Gage plays a masseuse, Cameron, who helps a repressed gay man named Gary (played by Zachary Quinto) by giving him a happy ending, which is his first sexual experience with another man. It opens up a whole new world — some of it involving hiding a body and trying to clear their names.
Down Low was directed by Emmy-nominee Rightor Doyle and was written by Phoebe Fisher and Gage.
The film's description read, "Down Low is an outrageous comedy about one wild night, a deeply repressed man, the twink who gives him a happy ending, and all the lives they ruin along the way."
With Simon Rex, Audra McDonald, and Judith Light also appearing in the film, you know this is good stuff.
"You see, terrible things happen in this movie," Doyle said of Down Low. "Hilariously terrible things. There’s lying and cheating and stealing; death, and drugs, and disco balls. Yet in the world of DOWN LOW, every awful problem and morally questionable solution is somehow better than the hell of a life Gary had created for himself until then; a life of sitting on the sidelines, playing by the rules, doing the right thing. Underneath DOWN LOW’s ambiguous morals and devilish sense of humor, lies a very simple question: Is a life of just being “good” any kind of life at all?"
Below, we have an exclusive clip from the film along with images from Down Low. In the clip, Gary and Cameron open up to one another after Gary tells Cameron about his repressed life. Cameron, being the kind-hearted twink that he is, takes it upon himself to show his client the queer world.
The film is out today to buy on digital.
