HIV infections decline in Mississippi
New HIV infections continued to decline in Mississippi in 2003, state health officials announced this week, continuing a trend that began in 1996, Biloxi's Sun Herald reports. A report released by the health department shows that there have been 7,387 cumulative HIV cases reported in Mississippi through the end of 2003. Of the state's cumulative HIV cases, 68.7% were male, 71.3% were African-American, and 31.4% were among gay and bisexual men.
