The San Francisco board of supervisors on Tuesday unanimously voted to give preliminary approval to a fiscal 2005-2006 city budget that includes an additional $1.5 million over proposed levels for the city's AIDS programs, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The city's budget now includes $58.5 million in AIDS funding, which is about $3 million less than the fiscal 2004-2005 budget, but $1.5 million more than initial current budget proposals included. Overall, the supervisors restored $23 million in planned cuts to the city's $5.3 billion budget that was initially proposed by Mayor Gavin Newsom. A final vote on the city's budget is scheduled for next week.
