Longtime AIDS
activist Elizabeth Taylor has donated a 37-foot van to New
Orleans's NO/AIDS Task Force for a community outreach
program targeting HIV care to city residents still
struggling in the aftermath of last year's
devastating Hurricane Katrina. The CareVan, a mobile medical
containing examination tables, an X-ray machine, and other
medical services, was formally unveiled at a press
conference held Tuesday on the New Orleans riverfront.
Health officials say the van will help deliver key
medical services in sections of New Orleans still
rebuilding from the August 2005 hurricane that led
to the flooding that devastated much of the
city. (The Advocate)
