Nine hundred
international AIDS experts are scheduled to convene this
week for the AIDS Vaccine 2007 Conference in Seattle. The
weeklong conference will examine issues in the AIDS
vaccine development such as the global effort in
vaccine development, pediatric AIDS, and federal
financial aid to fight the virus.
The location of
the conference in Seattle reflects the region's
international leadership in developing an AIDS vaccine.
According to the conference's organizers, local
organizations contributing to the conference include
the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center's HIV
Vaccine Trials Network, the Seattle Biomedical Research
Institute, the University of Washington, and the Bill
& Melinda Gates Foundation. (The
