Out rocker Melissa Etheridge has joined forces with Hard Rock International to launch this year's Rocktober celebration for breast cancer awareness.

In recognition of breast cancer awareness month every October, Hard Rock International teams up with a variety of musicians to promote the cause. Etheridge will perform her new album, The Awakening, in its entirety on September 25 to kick off the monthlong program.

"Having experienced my own personal journey with breast cancer, I know firsthand how important it is to raise awareness for this cause," Etheridge said in a statement. "This life-threatening disease affects millions of people worldwide, and I am grateful that Hard Rock and I can join together to get one step closer to eradicating breast cancer in the near future."

Proceeds from the sale of the $11 Hard Rock Breast Cancer Awareness Pin will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The pin will be available at all Hard Rock cafe, casino, and hotel locations as well as online at HardRock.com.

"Hard Rock's commitment to philanthropy has always been our foremost priority," said Hamish Dodds, president and CEO of Hard Rock International. (The Advocate)
